ADVOCACY

Much of our work on advocacy is closely linked to other sub programmes of reproductive health and population and development strategies. The main issues that we seek to advocate are:

issues of sexual inequality

issues relating to adolescents

the promotion of responsible behaviour

the creation of more positive images within these fields

In achieving this we are working with the government NGOs and national institutions to improve political awareness:

creating conditions for questions of population and sexual equality to be addressed in the national planning process

supporting national institutions charged with defining the measures and action plans in these domains and giving technical assistance

keeping national personnel conscious of issues and launching awareness campaigns

putting a case forward to decision makers to give women’s rights greater emphasis

training national personnel in launching their "information, education and communication" programme

strengthening the National Commission for Population and Gender in its role
